As reported in the PSBJ, Security Properties has started construction on a 29-story mixed-use tower called the Confidential. The tower will have 212 residences, 243 parking stalls, 16,710 square feet of office and 8,753 square feet of retail.
The 19,440 square foot site is at 4th Avenue & Bell Street, adjacent to Bell Street Park. Security Properties purchased the two underlying parcels in 2017 and 2018, for a total of $16,750,000. The design features a four-story brick podium to relate to nearby low-rise historic masonry buildings, with the glass tower above set back.
Most units will have balconies and many have dedicated work-from-home spaces. There will be outdoor terraces and plazas on levels 6, 15, and 29.
The Confidential name is based on Belltown's history as the city's Film Row, where movie studios operated distribution centers and screening rooms. Artist John Fleming will design a sculptural art installation based on "bells or hats", inspired by William Bell (for whom Belltown is named), and the bell-shaped hat worn by Chief Seattle. The project is targeting LEED Silver certification; construction is scheduled to complete in Summer 2024.
VIA Architecture designed the tower, Communita Atelier is the landscape architect and Exxel Pacific is the general contractor.
