In a ceremony earlier this month, Simon Property Group broke ground on a mixed-use residential development near Link's Northgate Station.

The project, which will rise on the Northgate Mall site, calls for the construction of a new seven-story building featuring 234 apartments and 25,000 square feet of ground-floor retail and dining space. The new building is the first stage of a redevelopment which will eventually include 1,000 homes, two hotels, commercial uses, and new green space.

GGLO is designing the building, while Compass Construction is serving as general contractor.

“It’s an exciting time for the Northgate Station district as we break ground and the first residential project gets underway,” said Simon senior vice president Patrick Peterman. “The new residential development marks the next chapter in executing our vision to reimagine the Northgate Station district as a lively and walkable community that meets the needs and wants of today’s resident in the greater Seattle area. When it is finished, people will be able to live, work, play, stay and shop at Northgate Station.”

Planned amenities include a pilates studio, co-working space, pet washing facilities, and concierge services. The site also sits near the Kraken Community Iceplex and Northgate Central Park.

Construction has also recently commenced on the first hotel at the Northgate Mall site - a Residence Inn by Marriott which is slated to open in Spring 2025.
