Great Expectations, an affordable housing developer, recently broke ground on its Betula Apartments on First Hill. The site, at 355 15th Avenue, is across the street from Seattle University’s athletic complex and soccer field and Swedish Hospital’s Cherry Hill campus. The 50-unit building will be four stories, on a 8,153 square foot site.
The unit mix will feature 36 small efficiency dwelling units and 14 one and two-bedroom units, with an average unit size around 450 square feet. 10 of the apartments will be available to residents making less than area median income under the multifamily tax exemption program.
There will be no parking in the building, except for 51 bicycle parking spaces. The hard corner will have a 1,676 square foot commercial space. Hybrid Architecture’s design was inspired by classic Seattle courtyard apartments. Rush Companies and Arboreal are also partners on the project. The building is scheduled to complete in late 2022.
