A new developer is picking up the baton on a proposed multifamily residential complex in Tacoma, reports the Puget Sound Business Journal.

Charles Cheung of Pinnacle LGS is reportedly is looking to obtain permits to build the Star Residence, a proposed $70 million, 233-unit development on a 0.4-acre site at 1123-1131 Tacoma Ave. S.

Cheung was previously a partner on the project with DMG Capital Group, which had previously filed plans with the City of Tacoma, but has since withdrawn from the proposed development.

IHB Architects is designing the Star Residence, which is described as a 12-story, 162,000-square-foot building featuring nine floors of modular units stacked above two levels of concrete. Plans also call for 25 parking spaces.

Construction is reportedly set to kick off in November.

While this is Cheung's first project in the Puget Sound area, it may not be his last. The Business Journal reports he is planning additional modular developments at 1637 and 1617 Meeker Street in Kent.
