The firms behind a proposed mixed-use project at 4448 California Ave. SW in West Seattle are changing up their plans, reports Westside Seattle.

In 2021, plans for the site near the intersection of California Ave. SW and SW Oregon Street were envisioned as a seven-story, 96-unit mixed-use building with ground-floor commercial space. That total was later revised down to 88 units, according to Westside Seattle.

An updated application submitted to review now downsizes the residential component of the project once again to 43 units on its upper floors. But rather than shrinking the project, the reduced unit count will permit the inclusion of a 45-key hotel within the same building envelope.

City records indicate that STS Construction Services is behind the proposed development, while Atelier Drome LLP is serving as architect.

STS Construction's past work in West Seattle includes a larger 114-unit complex at 3405 Harbor Ave SW.
