Skanska is moving forward with plans for a new mass timber office tower in Downtown Bellevue, the company announced earlier this month.

Bevel, which would rise from a corner lot at 870 106th Avenue NE, calls for the construction of a 12-story building with approximately 200,000 square feet of rentable space. The property would rise on an adjacent site to The Eight, another recently-completed office project from Skanska which is currently 90 percent leased.

The project, when completed, would be among the tallest mass-timber office buildings in the united States.

Bevel is being designed with those principles at its core,” said Skanska executive vice president and regional manager for Seattle Charlie Foushée. “Building on the success of The Eight and the strong Eastside market, Bevel represents an incredible opportunity for a future partner to establish a new world-class office or HQ on all levels.”

Skanska expects to receive an administrative design review sign-off from the City of Bellevue by late summer.

The project is being designed by a team that includes Mithun and London-based mass timber specialists Waugh Thistleton Architects. The building will feature a mass timber structural system above grade, with a steel core and a concrete parking structure below.

Besides offices space, plans also call for expanded sidewalks and streetscape improvements surrounding the property.
